What drew me to this was the texture of the piece and the material it was made of.

ART 21 - Kerry James Marshall

Kerry James Marshall

- Black

- Elegance

This painting is called "souvenir", painted in 1997 by Kerry James Marshall - acrylic on stretched canvas.
I think there are many design elements that are used in this painting and some more than once. The one that I am choosing for this is Repetition. At at the top of the painting there are all these figures black figures. All of these people are dead. They are given wings and the stretch across the canvas. Although it is not an exact patter that is being repeated it is the concept of the art and the reality their lives that has been repeated. Historic people of color.

This painting is called "Our Town", painted in 1995 by Kerry James Marshall. Acrylic and collage on canvas.
I think this painting has a very apparent design element and that is focal point. The two children in the front. Both surrounded by other colors and so far into the foreground to pull all the attention to them. I think that they are the focal point even thought the name of the painting is "Our Town".

A Few Of My Favorite Things

These are a few of my favorite things. Taken at my desk where they all reside, either on top of or inside.

1.)  Bram stokers "Dracula" is my favorite book. I just started getting to reading, and secured a job at the Barnes & Noble closest to Flagler. Among the books that I have read in the last couple months this is my favorite of them all, so far.

2.) Skull & Snake bat snow globe. During the month of October I work part time at part city. When working I saw this and I could not resist buying it. I also shake it every time I sit at my desk. its a fun distraction.

3.) My journal. I found this at Barnes & Noble and it was expensive! I keep my notes about things and life and goals in them to keep me motivated and on track.

4.) My mouse. I am a computer and technology nerd. So that is my Logitech G pro superlight mouse. Its very light I love it because its pink and it was the last one in the store when I bought it. I'm using it now! :)

5.) My sticker. I currently have a goal of one day opening my own print/sign shop and sticker company that takes jobs from the surrounding community and globally. This is the 1st sticker that I have made for it that has been printed. I have 48 more and I plan on either keeping them/giving them away/ or sticking them in random places for promotion when I think the time is right.

6.) This is my tablet stylus. This is by far the most important thing out of all of them. Most of my graphic designing is illustrating on photoshop or illustrator, then I do more with it. Without this item and my Huion tablet I would be lost and I don think I would be here at this school :)

7.) Lat but not least, I have my Calcifer pin. If you don't know Calcifer idk what to say.. You got to watch some Howls Moving Castle.

Theme Park Sculpture.

For my theme park sculpture, I brainstormed various ideas before settling on creating a sculpture of a game commonly found at theme parks ...
